Arnold Mwanjila is a writer-director based in Nairobi, Kenya. He graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York with an undergraduate degree in Film Studies and Economics, and is also an alumnus of Mira Nair's MAISHA SCREENWRITING LAB in East Africa.
He has written, directed and created various home-grown award-winning TV Shows,
most recently working on VARSHITA! and NJORO WA UBA for Mnet’s MAISHA MAGIC
EAST channel and the SVOD platform, SHOWMAX.
Also on SHOWMAX is his TV MOVIE, AISHA, which received SEVEN NOMINATIONS at the 2017 KALASHA Awards, including BEST FILM, BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY and BEST DIRECTOR, and bagged TWO, for the BEST LIGHTING & BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN.
His feature film directorial debut, TALIYA, a dark fantasy drama premiered in
February 2021 at the NEWFILMMAKERS LOS ANGELES FILM FESTIVAL, anchoring their
Black History Month program, INFOCUS: BLACK CINEMA. It continues its run on the
international film festivals and markets circuit with showcases at CINEQUEST
FILM & CREATIVITY FESTIVAL, DURBAN FILMMART, and BLACK STAR INTERNATIONAL
FILM FESTIVAL.
